[Retail]

It is important to keep retail spaces fresh and inviting, it is amazing how quickly interior and retail designs date. Because of this, frequent small revamps are important, as well as plans for full refits in the long term.

Because interior retail fit outs usually only expected to last about 5 years - revamps, or complete refits are happening all the time; this makes retail one of the largest design markets.

These images cover 2 large projects coinciding with the rollout of new Telecom retail stores.

"While the overall design was handled by another company, we were asked to design a range of stands, brochure holders and signage items to fit in with the theme."

For the Business Directions stores, coloured acrylic needed to be specially ordered from overseas to match exactly the lime Telecom colour.

The silver poster holders are a more recent design provided by the client, we were asked to find a way to produce them to their specifications and decide on suitable materials for the project.

"For more than 8 years I designed and produced display items for the Body Shop stores throughout New Zealand. Nearly all designs were custom designed, with a few being based on the stands available from the head office in Singapore, most of these were refined to include improvements the NZ store chains demanded."

The overall store designs were based on the customer template and handled by another contractor. We provided smaller display stands for storage and display of marketing materials as well as multiple sizes of bins to hold products.

These stands were designed from from the ground up, to fit the clients products and posters. 150 of these stands were produced to go into veterinary clinics throughout New Zealand. The stand primarily was made using aluminium composite material, with a metal pole and laser cut steel base. Acrylic poster pockets and brochure holders were fitted to the outside faces.

The graphic design and initial design work were provided by RBR Design who commissioned the project.

"This project was a little out of the ordinary - as we were asked to design and produce a "chocolate wheel", for each of the Noel Leeming stores. The graphics needed to be interchangeable for later promotions and the stand needed to break down for shipping nationwide."

"Several hurdles needed to be overcome such as getting a satisfying 'clack', keeping the small front disc static as the wheel turned and achieving a smooth motion."

"Soon after, Whitcoulls requested several "Wonder Wheels" to trial promotions of their own."

The graphic design and initial design work were provided by RBR Design who commissioned the project.

From sunglass cabinets to chocolate bins, vinyl record racks to cell phone enclosures - retailers requirements are varied, meaning no two designs are quite the same. Often the product to be displayed is so unique that a custom made stand is the only option to display it successfully.

These flyer stands were designed for Stevens many years ago. I am pleased with the result - most have been in service for 6 years or more and still look great. The base is heavily weighted making the stand is very stable. The top is removable, so can be replaced if needed.
